Heat Tracing Aquatherm Pipe
201503A – AQTTB
Date Issued: 2 March 2015
Aquatherm PP-R piping systems, Green Pipe, Green Pipe MF Faser, and Blue Pipe MF Faser are freeze tolerant meaning that they may experience inadvertent freeze/thaw cycles without sustaining damage to the pipe. However, the pipe should not be placed in an application where the potential for frequent freeze/thaw cycles exist.1
To avoid water freezing in the pipe, the use of anti-freeze (glycerin or glycol) or heating cables applied externally or internally to the pipe may be used to ensure the system does not freeze.
When using any type of external heat source applied to Aquatherm piping, such as heat tape, heating cables or hot water maintenance cables the product must be:
- Suitable for use with plastic piping.
- The heat system must be self-regulating and ensure the surface temperature of the Aquatherm pipe and fittings will not exceed 158ºF (70°C).
- The system must be installed following the manufacturer’s instructions for installation, and the product/system listings,
- Shall be used in compliance with all applicable local codes.
We confirm that when the above pipe products are installed per the notes above that the full Aquatherm GmbH 10-year product warranty will remain in effect.
